SHIPPING

We ship to mainland UK on a Thursday of your choice, when you order before midday the previous Monday, using a next-day DHL service. Some areas of the UK don't qualify for next day service with DHL which unfortunately means we are unable to deliver to you. Our ice cream would not survive longer than 48 hours, even packed with dry ice!

You can use our widget at checkout to verify if your postcode qualifies for next day delivery.

Shipping is £10 for orders below £70. Minimum spend is £38. We will deliver for free for orders above £70.

Collection from our King's Cross Parlour and Marston Moretaine office is always free.

We send all our ice cream with a next day DHL courier service. To keep the packages cold we use dry ice and biodegradable/compostable packaging and insulation, which is a lot more expensive than plastic. All of this adds up to a hefty sum!

The total costs add up to a lot more than the £10 we charge, we cover some of the costs ourselves. 

We are working as hard as humanly possible to reduce our shipping rates but, in the meantime, we hope you understand the difficulties we face.

You will receive tracking information from DHL via text or email to the
number or email address entered into your billing details. If your order is a gift you are then responsible for sharing the tracking details, please see advice on gifts below.

If you contact us at 01908 109 018 or email us at theengineroom@rubyviolet.co.uk before Wednesday at 10am the day before your shipping date we can rearrange your shipping for another week. If your parcel has already been collected by DHL please do not change your delivery date within the app, they will still collect the parcel from us and it will then sit in the depot until your chosen re-delivery date and will arrive melted.

*Please do not change your safe place or deliver to neighbour settings on the day of your delivery as this may re-schedule your delivery for the next day.

Yes! We would always recommend ordering in advance, occasionally DHL lose our parcels which is always frustrating but unfortunately completely out of our control. Our cakes can be stored up to three weeks in a domestic freezer, so ordering your cake a week or two in advance is the best way to go. This means if there are any issues with courier we can get a second parcel sent out to you the following week in time for your celebration!

We always book a 24 hour delivery service with DHL, our dry ice and insulation won't always last 48 hours so it's extremely important that you receive the parcel on your selected delivery date. Please call us at 01908 109 018 or email us at theengineroom@rubyviolet.co.uk as soon as you realise something is delayed. We always advise ordering cakes in advance so we can ensure your celebrations aren't ruined by courier services! 

Unfortunately we are currently unable to ship internationally.

All deliveries will be made on a Thursday, DHL will contact you with a timeframe on the day. If you are not in when the delivery is attempted we cannot refund you for any melted ice cream. If you are not home DHL will leave the parcel on your doorstep or in a safe place.

Yes of course! However, please make sure that the person receiving the gift is at the address during the delivery slot, as we can't refund for melted ice cream due to the recipient not being there. As the purchaser, the tracking details will be sent to you.

Simply leave the bags in a well ventilated area (it will evaporate into the air). You can then recycle the dry ice bags when empty. See safety instructions here.

Since the very beginning, we have been extremely conscious of the mark we're leaving on the planet and we are constantly trying to improve.

All our stickers and tapes are biodegradable and our tubs can be recycled. Our shipping boxes are compostable as well as the insulation within them, Woolcool, which is made from 100% pure wool. Our local delivery bags are compostable and are printed with biodegradable inks. Using eco-friendly materials for our shipping is considerably more expensive and it is the main reason our shipping costs are high, but we think it's worth it.

If you visit our parlour in King's Cross, you will notice all our ice cream cups, coffee cups, milkshake cups, straws, spoons, bags and stickers are all compostable and biodegradable. If you choose to eat in, your ice cream will be served in (lovely) china cups to reduce waste.

More than 90% of the cleaning products in our parlour and kitchen are ecofriendly, including coconut scouring brushes. 

We source our ingredients as locally as possible and use organic milk and free range eggs. Our frozen fruit comes from Herefordshire and we will use fresh fruit from local allotments when available.

Outside London: MK16, MK46, MK40, MK42, MK43, MK45, LU1, LU4, LU5, AL3, HP2, WD5, WD6

Delivery slots are between 9am and 8pm. We will be in touch by email the day before your scheduled delivery with a more precise time.

Returns & Refunds

If you are missing items or are not happy, please email us at theengineroom@rubyviolet.co.uk and our management team will do their best to help you. Please include your order number, name and any images you have when emailing us.

We may be able to refund you depending on the reason for the refund request. If you would like to request a refund please contact us at theengineroom@rubyviolet.co.uk within 48 hours of receiving your goods with images and a full explanation for the request.

We always try our very best to make sure your delivery arrives on the day specified, but we cannot control DHL delivery mistakes. We cannot offer a refund in this instance, but you may be able to get a refund from DHL directly. Please call their Customer Services team on 02476 937 770.

We do not accept returns or exchanges on perishable food items or gift cards. If there is an issue with your order we will do our best to make it right. Please contact us at theengineroom@rubyviolet.co.uk within 7 days of receiving your order to raise an issue, refunds can be issued where necessary.
